how do i play on a wow private server?

i was watching a video on how to do it and i did everything he said exactly right,but for some reason when i click on wow it goes to the screen where you log in and it says to enter your battle.net account name in the username box. i tried to enter in my private server account info(eternion wow private server)but it says its an invalid username. so if someone knows exactly how to play on a private server and has done it before and know it works please put some crystal clear steps on how to do it. thanks

also, dont say anything about me just paying for it.i cant afford 15$ a month.its a lot of money.i no a lot of people say that its not that much and that its worth it, and i think so too.kind of. but its like they practically made it for only grownups who have jobs to play(im not a grownup, im a teen).

    open realm list file in word and change the sever location
    if it’s not workin try another sever ._.

    Yep, make sure you’re client is at the version required for the Private server and edit your realmlist file to what they tell you. We have a private server, and also a “About WoW” section that tells how to get setup to join our server.

    I’m having the same problem as you are. I tried changing the stuff on the realmlist.txt but it just won’t suffice. When I open WoW.exe it keeps asking for battle.net account :(
