Luckily, Guild Wars doesn't require a lot of gold to be able to play and have a maxed out competitive character. You can buy max weapons and max armor fairly cheap. You can also spend a small fortune on really cool awesome skinned weapons and armor, but these items don't give you any advantages ingame, they just look nice. You can make enough money to meet all your needs just playing thru the game normally. If you want to make more gold for the luxury items, you can do that by farming, power trading or running others. There are lots of ways to earn gold honestly, but the main point is to have fun doing it. Some people think farming is boring. Others hate to trade with real people. Find the profession and game play style that suits you best and then look for ways to earn money doing that. For example, I enjoy playing thru the Nahpui Quarter mission. This is a mission that a lot of folks find difficult to complete, so I can earn gold running folks thru it. The most important thing is to set a budget. There are a lot of items you can spend gold on ingame. Decide which ones are important and save up a little bit each day towards that specific goal.
