If your over level 68 than go to Outland you can farm 200-300 gold a day. Other wise run some low level instances or just farm.

get mining and herblism professions
max them out cause ore can be used to prospect or made into bars that sell for money in AH.and outland herbs sell for quite a bit too.
if you are lvl 70 then just do quest and daily quest because you max lvl then those quest give more money.

I play, and I have seen a bunch of guides that you pay for which tell you where to quest and/or farm so you can make a lot of money. They sound pretty unexciting, however, as one person told me that one of the guides is based on the loot tables, and you basically just go kill a certain mob in a zone and kill them for hours because they drop green loot fairly often, and you can turn around and sell it at the AH. I think I would go bonkers doing that--I already have to farm sometimes to get stuff for my professions, and it's terrible.
I make a fair, though by no means large, amount of money off of my professions, but that's because I have a large stable of characters, and they all either harvest the trade goods or make stuff.
One thing I have noticed, and I know I use it when I am running short, is that if you are dedicated to harvesting something, you can make money selling stacks of it, especially as you level. I know LWs always need hides and leather, and the alchies always need herbs, and naturally the engineers and metalsmiths need ores. You might try having your highest level character learn two professions, and having them both be harvesting profs. That way you could gather stuff for the people that need to use it.
Obviously, there's also dungeon crawling. Nice loot in some places, and sometimes it's the yard trash that drops a nice item, rather than the real bosses.
One other thing, and I have made decent money on this (my friend has made insane money doing it) is to watch the AH really closely, and know the actual value of items. A lot of times people will have a really good item listed for way under what it's worth or people are willing to pay. They are thinking short term, and just looking to make a few gold, so they will sell something which is worth 30 gold for 3 just to get their needs met. You can buy that 3 gold item, turn around and list it for the 30, and make a tidy profit. My friend got lucky one time and paid 10 gold for something which was worth 200 gold. He even told the guy that was selling it that it was worth 20x more than he was asking, and the guy didn't care at all. He needed 10 gold, and he needed it right away, and he wasn't willing to wait for someone to come along with the 200 gold and buy it. So, if you know what stuff is worth, you can do that and make good money.
I don't know if any of this will help you, but I hope it will. Best of luck.
